Deskline operates Marketdesknews at marketdesknews.com. There are no reader accounts. This page describes the first-party data the site actually stores.
What we collect
A small first-party analytics beacon records page path, referrer, browser family, device class, Host, and IP so the operator can see whether the desk is used. A visitor cookie (deskline_vid) ties hits in this browser. Stats are kept in daily buckets for up to 90 days on our server. This is not sold, and it is not a third-party ad pixel.
Optional preferences stay in this browser:
- Cookies: followed teams (
scoreline_follows), markets watchlist (tickerline_watchlist) - Local storage: theme, Workspace layout, chart study toggles, board preset, and client-side price/calendar alerts
- An admin session cookie exists only if someone signs into the operator console
What we do not collect
- No account, email list, or password for readers
- No payment card data
- No brokerage credentials, and no order entry
- No third-party advertising cookies today
Quotes, headlines, and charts
Prices and OHLCV bars are fetched server-side from public Yahoo Finance chart endpoints. Headlines are pulled from public RSS/Atom feeds; we store the card fields we show (title, excerpt, link, time, image URL) and we do not fetch article bodies. Charts are drawn in your browser from those Yahoo bars. Clicking a headline leaves our site for the publisher.
Your choices
Clearing site data in the browser drops cookies and local preferences. Blocking the beacon stops new pageviews; it does not erase history we already stored. Email contact@marketdesknews.com to ask what we hold or to request deletion of analytics rows we can match.
Children
The desk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If collection changes in a material way (for example, advertising), this page will be updated with a new date.
